FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is Sweet Basil MKE open for dine-in?

YES! After many backorders, supply chain delays, and changes our dining room is now open. We welcome you to join us for quick-casual dining or order for carry-out in our space.

🍴 For Dine-In: check out our menu, place your orders at the register, then take a seat at any available table. We'll bring your food out to you. There's also a condiment station with sauces, water, utensils and napkins. We highly recommend coming during lunch time for the best availability. We estimate wait times to be about 30 mins or more at this time while we work to adjust to being fully open. We welcome your feedback, good or bad, so that we can improve. Just message us or call us directly.

🏃 Carry-Out: Orders can be placed in advance via online ordering or by phone. There will be no more curbside service, you are welcome to pick up your orders inside now! Orders can also be placed at the register for take out but we highly recommend ordering ahead to avoid wait times. There is also a carry-out waiting area at the front of the restaurant.

If you have any issues, please reach out to us directly so that we can make it right for you and improve. I've never had Thai or Lao food before. Where do I start?

We love folks who are looking to try different Asian cuisine! The most popular items on our menu for those looking to ease into something new are:

  • Pad Thai noodles (Thai) - this dish is easy to eat and made with your choice of protein. The noodles are flavorful without being too overpowering and it's got shredded carrots and onions for crunch.

  • Lemongrass Skewers or Beef Teriyaki (Thai) - these street eats are our most popular for those trying Asian street food for the first time! The Lemongrass skewers are great if you're a fan of grilled chicken and the beef teriyaki is marinated in a sweet teriyaki sauce. We only use the best cuts of meat from a local butcher. No weird cuts of meat, only quality stuff here.

  • Pad Broccoli (Thai/Chinese) - this entrée is always a great choice. It's a stir-fry dish full of broccoli and your choice of protein. It's served with Jasmine rice (the Thai version of white rice).

  • Family-Style Platter (Lao) - our platters are staples in Laotian family dinners. The meats and skewers are meant to be paired with our Jeow dipping sauces and sticky rice, which is rice that's steamed in a basket meant to be eaten with your hands.

How long does an order take at Sweet Basil MKE?

Wait times average about 20-30 minutes on weekdays, but can increase up to an hour or more during popular dining times like lunch and dinner. We will always do our best to ensure your order gets done by the quoted time but we appreciate and thank you for your understanding if we take a little longer, as we are taking extra time to sanitize areas much more frequently. We are not a fast food restaurant, we make every order fresh. No food sitting in warmers, no frozen pre-made entrees.

Does Sweet Basil MKE deliver?

We used to deliver but have temporarily stopped offering delivery services for now. We had a 5 mile radius for delivery, but many orders would be for outside of our delivery zone causing our delivery drivers to be gone for lengthy periods of time and creating delays in other deliveries. Until we can figure out a better way to enforce the delivery zone, we will stick to curbside for now. In the future, we may offer delivery again if conditions are right.

Does Sweet Basil MKE partner with third-party delivery services like UberEats, GrubHub, DoorDash, or Postmates?

We do not have a partnership with any third-party delivery services. Please contact us directly for orders. We have no control over the prices listed on the menus on those sites or apps and we have no control over how long the food will sit before it gets to you. The best way to get our food at optimal quality is to order directly through us. We have requested the removal of our logo and name from those listings.

Does Sweet Basil offer Gluten-Free options?

Yes, our chefs are very knowledgeable on the ingredients. There are gluten-free indicators on our menu to show which items can be made gluten-free. When ordering by phone, please let us know which items are meant to be made gluten-free. When ordering online, please select from the Gluten-Free Menu to the left of the screen.

What about allergies?

We can certainly accommodate allergies to the best of our abilities. Please let us know of any serious allergies including peanut, soy, shellfish, seafood, gluten, etc. Our chefs are very knowledgeable on the ingredients and can ensure your food is prepared safely, in a manner that avoids cross-contamination.

Does Sweet Basil MKE offer Asian food for catering or orders for large groups?

Yes! We have a catering menu filled with Thai food and Lao food options serving the Milwaukee area. Our chefs built the catering menu using only dishes from our menu that will hold up well in large servings and during transport. Please contact us and can work with you to place an order for a large group.
